England and Italy drew 1-1 at the Juventus Stadium in Turin on Tuesday night.
The Three Lions held the Azzurri in the international friendly as Roy Hodgson's side extended their unbeaten run to eight matches since their World Cup disappointment in Brazil last year.
Southampton striker Graziano Pelle was given a start by Antonio Conte despite having not scored at club level since January 24 (and not in the Premier League since December) but he did not let his boss down when opening the scoring in the 29th minute.
Giorgio Chiellini got on the end of an errant corner to swing in a lovely cross for Pelle to head home with a glancing effort inside Joe Hart's far post.
England began to look more confident and assured in midfield after Michael Carrick had replaced the unwell Chris Smalling just before half-time which saw Phil Jones move from holding midfielder to centre-back.
The fluidity of the attack started to come as the second lot of 45 minutes ticked over with Wayne Rooney and Harry Kane managing to break the shackles of the stingy Italian defence.
However, it was Tottenham winger Andros Townsend who levelled it up with just over 10 minutes remaining when he received the ball from club mate Ryan Mason before taking a lovely touch and then hammering across Gianluigi Buffon from outside the box for his third international goal.
It was a much brighter second half from Hodgson's men and they could have nicked it late only for Buffon to deny Rooney before producing a top save to thwart Kane in what was a fairly entertaining affair.
