Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino has played down suggestions that he and Jan Vertonghen have had a falling out.
It has been reported that the Belgian defender is unhappy with the Argentine for keeping him on the bench in recent times but Pochettino has denied claims that there is some sort of rift between the two.
"Jan is an important player for Tottenham and for us," he said ahead of Thursday's Europa League clash with Asteras Tripolis.
"But a lot of rumours and information and different situations, and for me it's easy because I don't read it. Never.
"I know the players are sometimes affected by comment or rumours and they call me about the rumours but Jan is a very important player for Tottenham and for me.
"I have trust in my player and Jan never told me about that. He is happy at Tottenham. Maybe sometimes he wants to play more but my decision is to take a decision. He is happy and I'm happy with him."
