Tottenham are taking a closer look at Southampton boss Mauricio Pochettino.
The Daily Mail says the club's interest in the Argentine is no secret, but his popularity has risen at Spurs over recent weeks, particularly in light of their changing perception of Louis van Gaal, the Holland coach.
Southampton want to open contract talks with Pochettino at the end of the season, with his current contract due to expire at the end of next season.
But the former Espanyol boss wants to see if Spurs make an approach before making concrete plans to stay at St Mary's.
Ajax manager Frank De Boer is also in the running to replace Tim Sherwood ahead of next season.
