Valencia fullback Miguel is wanted by Tottenham.
The People says Spurs boss Harry Redknapp is targeting Valencia's Portuguese international right-back Miguel after deciding Portsmouth's Glen Johnson is too dear at about £16m.
Redknapp wants a new face in that position, despite having Alan Hutton, Vedran Corluka and Pascal Chimbonda.
Talks have begun with hard-up Spanish outfit Valencia for 29-year-old former Benfica star Miguel, available for about £6m.
The Portuguese star would jump at a move to the Premier League.
However, Spurs will have to come up with a three-year contract to match the length of agreement he has at the Mestalla.
