Tottenham are ready to upgrade Aaron Lennon's contract to ward off Liverpool.
Lennon earns about £45,000 a week and can expect to increase his salary to £55,000 a week in return for signing a minimum two-year extension to take him up to 2016, says the Daily Express.
Liverpool have been long-term admirers of Lennon and director of football Damien Comolli knows him well from his time at Tottenham.
Spurs managed to secure Gareth Bale to a new long-term contract last March and are still hopeful of convincing Luka Modric to forget about a move to Manchester United or Chelsea and sign a new deal worth £100,000 a week.
