Tottenham midfielder Ryan Mason believes Spurs paid the price for their poor showing in the first leg of their Europa League Round of 16 loss to Borussia Dortmund, after being dumped out of the competition 5-1 on aggregate by the Bundesliga club on Thursday.
Spurs were comprehensively beaten 3-0 in the first leg of the tie at the Westfalenstadion last week, before suffering a 2-1 defeat in the return fixture at White Hart Lane.
"The first leg killed us," Mason told BT Sport after the match.
"The tie was over to be fair. We didn't do ourselves any justice. We didn't go there and get our philosophy across.
"We were punished big time by a top side. There's no doubt about that - they're a top side.
"But they're the sort of teams we want to test ourselves against. The weekend is the focus now."
