The Daily Mail says Tottenham could turn to Uruguay playmaker Ramirez if Rafael van der Vaart secures a move to Schalke.
Holland star Van der Vaart has been sounded out about a move to Germany, where his wife Sylvie works for a TV station.
Bologna midfielder Ramirez is seen as a ready-made replacement after an impressive two years in Serie A.
