Tottenham legend and Argentina World Cup winner Ossie Ardiles has applied for the vacant Melbourne Victory post. The Sunday Herald-Sun says the former Newcastle United and Spurs manager is among 30 high-profile applicants for the job.
Manchester United legend Roy Keane has also been linked with Melbourne in recent days.
tribalfootball.com can reveal Ardiles has been monitoring Australian football for several years and was keen on the Brisbane Roar job before it was handed to Frank Farina in 2006.
Ardiles was ready to move to Australia in a dream partnership with Ricky Villa and has monitored the fluctuating fortunes of the A-League ever since.
