Tottenham goalkeeper Heurelho Gomes was delighted with his defence after victory over Wigan Athletic.

The Brazilian was rarely troubled in the crucial Spurs win.

"It was a very important win for us," Gomes told the club's website. "It's a big week with Wigan, Bolton and Everton and when you win the first game like we did at Wigan it gives you a great feeling.

"It's not an easy place to go, conditions were difficult but we were strong in every tackle, kept winning the ball and deserved the win."

Gomes had praise for his defence after our 12th clean sheet of the campaign in all competitions.

"It wasn't easy in those conditions," he said. "Normally the ball will bounce and come straight to you but this time when the ball bounced in front of you, anything could happen. It was all about concentration.

"We defended well again and it's important for us to keep another clean sheet. To play away from home and keep a clean sheet is always a fantastic feeling."
