Tottenham keeper Friedel happy stepping in for Lloris

Tottenham goalkeeper Brad Friedel was happy to step in for Hugo Lloris after their defeat to Newcastle United.

With Lloris sidelined the 42-year-old Friedel was making his first league appearance since March and the former United States international is ready to step back and allow Lloris to return when ready.

"He [Lloris] wished me luck, we have a really good relationship," he said.

"If I play, he really wants me to do well. If he plays, I really want him to do well. When I signed here, they were looking for a long-term number one and they have found a very good one. If I need to deputise, I will try to do it to the best of my ability."
