Tottenham are on the brink of signing Barcelona striker David Villa. The Daily Express says Spurs are on the cusp of a sealing a deal for Villa after broadly reaching an agreement over personal terms for the Barcelona forward.

Such is Spurs' interest, that Andre Villas-Boas is thought to have held an informal discussion over a move on the phone.

Reports have surfaced indicating that Spurs are ready to pay around £8m for Spain's all-time leading scorer.
