Tottenham hand Cameron Carter-Vickers new contract

Tottenham have handed Cameron Carter-Vickers a new contract.

The USA defender, 20, is very highly rated by manager Mauricio Pochettino, who will now decide whether to loan him out again next season or let him battle for a first-team spot, says The Sun.

Spurs could be short of a centre-back if contract rebel Toby Alderweireld, 29, leaves as expected.

Carter-Vickers spent this season on-loan at Ipswich Town.

He said: “Nobody knows what is going to happen next season but if there was an option to come back here it is definitely something I would consider.

“I would be open to offers, but it's not really going to be my decision, it will be up to the gaffer at Tottenham to decide what's next for me.

“I will be going back there in pre-season, see what his thoughts are and go from there.

“That's all I know, that I have to report to Spurs for pre-season training. I'll probably train with the first team and then go from there."
