Tottenham go for Schalke defender Howedes

A Premier League scramble has kicked off for Schalke defender Benedict Howedes.

The Daily Star Sunday says Tottenham have joined Manchester United and Arsenal by showing an interest in Howedes.

The central defender, 27 played every minute of last year's World Cup win for Germany and has said in the past that he would like to play in England.

United and Arsenal were already hot on his trail and Spurs have now entered the race for the defender who can play anywhere across the back four.

Schalke are desperate to keep him but will ask for at least £15million.
