Tottenham fullback Kyle Walker has paid tribute to his parents after an amazing week.

Walker maintains that he owes everything to his parents.

"I wouldn't be here now if it wasn't for them," he told the Mirror. "It's hard to repay them for the sacrifices they made. They didn't have much and went without to give me a ­better chance of making it as a professional footballer.

"And that's why I never take anything for granted. My girlfriend is giving birth to my son in two weeks and because I'm privileged, I never want him to go without or face the struggles my parents did when I was growing up.

"More importantly, I have very good people around me who keep my feet on the ground. They are supportive and proud but to them I'm just a normal lad, nothing ­special."
