Tottenham defender Jan Vertonghen admits his treatment by Ajax in the final weeks of his transfer still rankles.

Ajax played hard-ball over Vertonghen's sale, which was eventually concluded by Spurs.

"The Ajax directors wanted me to drop my wages. Honestly I stood there stunned, I was very shocked. Had I just heard right?" he told NUsport.

"It was a real shame that it has run like that."
