Tottenham coach Jordan hails impact of ex-Villa keeper Friedel

Tottenham coach Joe Jordan says management are delighted with the impact of Brad Friedel since his arrival from Aston Villa.

The American will face his old teammates on Monday night.

"It was highlighted against Fulham because he had to make important saves at important times," Jordan told the Spurs website.

"His performances this season were summed-up in that 90 minutes. He makes the saves because he is in the right position and with the experience he has he reads the game. He gets his body in the way and his angles right.

"He makes it very difficult for forwards. Clint Dempsey went around Brad in the final 20 minutes and got to such an angle that when he had the shot, Ledley could clear it.

"Brad didn't commit himself in a way where it was going to be a penalty kick, but he did enough to make the player go away, but still stayed on the field.

"It is a fantastic thing to use that experience. He gives composure not just to the back four, but to the team.

"For me, he sends that out to the defence and the team and that is a massive contribution. There is an admiration as well. The players know they have a great goalkeeper behind them."
