Tottenham development coach Clive Allen was pleased with their friendly defeat to San Jose Earthquakes yesterday.
Younes Kaboul, Kyle Walker, Danny Rose and Jake Livermore were amongst our starting XI but Spurs lost out to Bobby Burling's close-range header in the 50th minute.
"It was a quality game for us," Allen told the Spurs website. "San Jose are five weeks into their pre-season programme now and having seen them at West Ham on Monday, I knew it would be a very competitive match for us and that's how it turned out.
"It was just what a number of our players needed. Result-aside, no-one likes to lose, it was a very good game for us."
