Atletico Madrid captain Maxi Rodriguez is a target for Tottenham.

The Daily Mail says Rodriguez, 28, has a wealth of experience playing in the top flight in Spain and is regarded as one of the best left-sided players in La Liga.

Manager Harry Redknapp, who also has an interest in Atletico striker Diego Forlan, is keen to strengthen his squad as uncertainty surrounds the future of Jermaine Jenas and Didier Zokora.

Rodriguez said: "I have already received offers but I didn't feel it was the right time to leave the club as they have looked after me.

"I am not ruling out the possibility that in the future I could try something new with an English or Italian team."
