Tottenham boss Andre Villas-Boas is eyeing Real Madrid defender Ricardo Carvalho.

The Daily Mail says Carvalho could be set for a return to the capital with Tottenham pondering a move for the former Chelsea defender after he was omitted from Real Madrid's US tour.

The 34-year-old Portugal international did not join the rest of Jose Mourinho's squad as they flew out to the United States.

The La Liga champions take on David Beckham's Los Angeles Galaxy on Friday in their opening pre-season match but Carvalho will miss out, prompting fresh doubt over his future at the Bernabeu.
