Tottenham boss Redknapp stands by Bent criticism

Harry Redknapp does not regret hitting out at Tottenham striker Darren Bent for his late miss against Portsmouth on Sunday. Redknapp's frustration led him to joke his wife could have done better and found the back of the net.

The former Pompey boss has no qualms with his post-match criticism of the striker and says players must have the ability to respond positively after making a mistake.

"I don't regret saying it," said Redknapp. "If I had the hump every time somebody said something about me I wouldn't go out every morning. It's frightening really.

"Sometimes you say what you think and people take offence. I've spoken to him and there is no problem.

"You keep pussyfooting around with people - what am I supposed to say? Really good try? Really unlucky? He's really done his best with that?"
