Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp has played down talk of a move for Wigan Athletic striker Emile Heskey.
"He's a free in the summer and I think he will wait to be a free agent," Redknapp told The Times. "Then he has the power.
"The different between £3million and free is that he can name his price because the club are paying nothing for him.
"I can see him waiting until the summer unless someone is really desperate to take him."
Redknapp is unlikely to be spending big money in January, but admits he would like to bring in a couple of loans to bolster his squad.
"I had a meeting with the chairman the other day and he said no-one would be spending fortunes. I don't want to spend fortunes anyway," added Redknapp.
"If I can bring in some loans, I will be more than happy."
