Tottenham boss Ramos to try again for Valencia's Villa

Tottenham are ready to make a serious bid for Valencia striker David Villa.

The Daily Mail says despite having their first approach for the Spanish striker rejected out of hand by his club Valencia, Spurs are still determined to pull off what would be the transfer coup of the summer.

Manager Juande Ramos has been using Spurs' training camp in Spain as a base from which to pursue targets in his homeland, and is hoping to lure Villa to White Hart Lane as a replacement for Dimitar Berbatov, who is expected to leave soon.

Villa has long been linked with a move away from the Mestalla Stadion after Valencia ran into financial difficulties, although the Spanish club were hoping to offload others in order to hold on to their star man.
