Tottenham and Chelsea in hot pursuit of Berahino despite West Brom banishment

Saido Berahino is expected to be the subject of serious interest from Tottenham and Chelsea this winter.

According to the Daily Star, the London rivals are on red alert after Berahino was dropped to West Bromwich Albion's U21s side this week.

The 22-year-old striker was Albion's leading scorer last season with 20 goals in all competitions but has netted just three times in 11 outings this term and has not started for Tony Pulis since late October.

Berahino wanted out at The Hawthorns in the summer when Spurs made multiple bids for him but stayed put at the behest of chairman Jeremy Peace who he was then extremely critical of.

With Salomon Rondon and Rickie Lambert ahead of Berahino in the pecking order, offers for the Burundi-born attacker are imminent with both Chelsea and Tottenham likely to come calling when the January transfer window opens.
