Tottenham ace Modric reveals latest goal inspired by Van der Vaart

Tottenham midfielder Luka Modric says his goal in victory over Werder Bremen was inspired by Rafael van der Vaart.

Modric was in the right place at the right time to latch onto Peter Crouch's knockdown from Alan Hutton's cross, turn inside Sebastien Prodl and volley home.

"I've learned a little from Rafa and Crouchy," Modric told the Spurs website.

"Rafa has scored a lot of goals from Crouchy in those areas and I expected Crouchy to win the ball and flick it towards me.

"I then beat one player with a dummy and was able to score.

"I'm very happy because it's my first goal in the Champions League and that means a lot. It's a great feeling."
