Tottenham ace Defoe: Best form of career

Tottenham striker Jermain Defoe feels he's in the best form of his career.

Defoe struck five goals in Sunday's victory over Wigan and has been outstanding for Spurs this term.

He told TalkSport: "I think so. I've always got my goals and things like that but I feel strong. Last year I missed ten weeks of the season and I think that has actually made me stronger physically so I would say this is the best for of my career, yeah."

On his England hopes, Defoe added: "I think to play for your country at that level is based on merit so to get into the England squad you've got to have something about you, you've got to be good. Each time I've played with Wayne Rooney it's been fantastic.

"The way he plays, he drops in and gets involved in the game and I can stay high and play on the shoulder which I like doing and when I play with Crouchy, again I can stay high because he can flick things on but I haven't' got a favourite partner. All the players I have played alongside for England, they've all been great players."
