Tottenham ace Gareth Bale has escaped serious injury after his clash with Liverpool midfielder Charlie Adam.

Bale had a precautionary scan last night to determine the full extent of the injury, but the Spurs forward took part in light training yesterday ahead of tonight's clash against New York Red Bulls.

"Needless to say, we are extremely relieved Gareth has not been seriously injured," said manager Andre Villas-Boas.

"There is previous history between the two players on the challenge that was done I think three years ago."
