Former Real Madrid coach John Toshack admits Barcelona were keen on Tottenham star Gareth Bale.
Toshack worked with Bale as Wales coach and believes he will be a big success at Real.
"I was very good friends with (former Barca sports director) Txiki Begiristain and told him about Bale. Txiki was very attentive to his development," recalled Toshack.
"I see no problems in Bale adapting to Real Madrid. I do not think the cost of his signing is a problem. Everybody is complaining about the price, but Bale and Cristiano Ronaldo can provide many evenings of glory for Madrid."
