Torino fullback Matteo Darmian was pleased with Italy's performance against England.

The friendly finished 1-1, with Tottenham winger Andros Townsend canceling out Southampton striker Graziano Pelle's opener.

"We put in a good performance and made life difficult for the English players," Torino wing-back Darmian told Rai Sport.

"We are on the right track. We had chances to double our lead and we went out there with determination. With that attitude we can trouble anyone.

"I think Italy can improve and we are trying. Antonio Conte is bringing in his ideas and tonight we tried to follow the Coach's directives."
