Jacob Timpano is ready for action with new club North Queensland Fury.

The former Sydney FC defender has been plagued by injury in recent years but is now fully fit and looking forward to the challenge with a brand new A-League club.

"I've had a tough couple of years ... hopefully a change of scenery will be a change of luck," he told the Townsville Bulletin.

"I'm really looking forward to having a good pre-season and staying injury-free.

"To be involved in a new team, a new franchise is exciting," Timpano added.

"I've been in Sydney for the first four years of the A-League so it's a new start and I'm really looking forward to it.

"It was a tough decision but I looked at the squad Fergie's putting together and the way Fergie's wanting to do things up here and a change is always good."
