Thorstvedt expects Tottenham to bomb out Gomes

Erik Thorstvedt expects Tottenham to ditch calamity goalkeeper Heurelho Gomes in January.

The former Spurs No1 told The Sun: "Gomes has had a really bad start. Worse than I had all those years ago - and I had an absolute nightmare.

"Things have really dragged on for him. I'm amazed it's been allowed to go on for this long and they haven't taken him out of the firing line and brought someone else in.

"Every goalkeeper makes mistakes, I know that better than anyone but he can't afford to be doing it every other week.

"One thing's for sure, he needs to get his act together quickly or his Tottenham career will not last beyond the New Year.

"The one against Fulham was the worst so far. You can't make mistakes like that in the English Premier League - he'll be on his way unless he cuts it out.

"Everyone knows that Harry Redknapp loves wheeling and dealing in the transfer market and I can't believe he won't be thinking about bringing in a new goalkeeper already.

"I wouldn't be surprised to see David James arriving to replace him as a short-term fix in January."
