Former Liverpool star Phil Thompson is of the belief that Danny Ings would play his best football as a central forward.
The former Burnley ace scored his first Premier League goal for the Reds in Sunday's 1-1 draw with Norwich City after replacing Christian Benteke at half-time.
Ings impressed in a more central role and Thompson would love to see him given another opportunity after he was played out of position in the disappointing loss to Manchester United recently.
"Ings was excellent when he came on to replace Christian Benteke at half-time," pundit Thompson said on Sky Sports.
"I'd have liked to have seen him used in that central role when he was handed his chance against United, rather than stuck out on the left. That made me feel a bit uneasy as I didn't feel like he got a fair crack on his debut."
