Archie Thompson hopes he can still be a key figure in the Melbourne Victory team after another coaching change.
The two-time A-League champions recently appointed Ange Postecoglou, luring the back-to-back title-winning coach from Brisbane Roar, and Thompson feels he still has a part to play.
Thompson suggests that Postecoglou has brought a similar game plan to the club as former coach Ernie Merrick had and is looking to be an experienced head in a Victory squad expected to see some changes this off-season.
"And you can already see how much our training sessions have improved.
"I don't think you can count just on youth, obviously there's got to be a blend of youth and... experience.
"So I think if you perform well and you train well you're going to play.""In a way he actually kind of reminds me of Ernie because he wanted us to play an attacking type of football, which is when you get the ball to always look forward and we've been doing a lot of that at training," 33-year old Thompson said.
