Manchester City boss Sven Goran Eriksson was left stunned by Thiago Motta's decision to reject their contract offer last week.
DiarioSport says Eriksson offered to double Motta's Barcelona wages to bring him to Eastlands. But the Brazilian turned him down in favour of a move to Atletico Madrid.
