Jose Mourinho says John Terry has not been given a handout with his new Chelsea deal.
?The 34-year old defender signed a one-year extension with the Blues on Thursday which will keep him at Stamford Bridge until at least the end of the 2015/16 Premier League season.
?Some may see it as a favour to the club captain who has served the west Londoners since 1998 but Mourinho has made it vehemently clear that Terry has earned his new contract.
?"This new contract is not to say 'thank you very much'; it is because John continues to perform," Mourinho told the club's official website.
?"He is a top defender. I am happy that he completely deserves this new contract after a season where he has already played 40 matches."?
