Telstra tightens its grip on Aussie soccer

Australian telecoms company Telstra has announced new partnerships with four A-League sides, reports, www.sportspromedia.com/. The company, a major backer of Football Federation Australia (FFA), becomes a category partner of the Western Sydney Wanderers, an associate partner of Melbourne City, and the official telecommunications partner of Brisbane Roar and Sydney FC.

The deal will also see the company provide statistics and information from each of the team's games to players and supporters.

All of the agreements run until 2017, while Sydney FC striker Bernie Ibini and Western Sydney Wanderers duo Kearyn Baccus and Daniel Alessi have signed up to serve as ambassadors for Telstra.

"We're extremely excited about working with each of these teams and our ambassadors, to grow the sport and connect fans with the game they love," said Telstra's general manager, sponsorship, Matthew McCann.

Telstra is already a prominent supporter of soccer in Australia, having forged partnerships with the Socceroos, Westfield Matildas, Foxtel A-League All Stars, Hyundai A-League, Westfield W-League and Westfield FFA Cup competitions
