Taylor set to leave Birmingham

Defender Martin Taylor's four-year spell at Birmingham could be coming to an end after he was told he is surplus to requirements by new manager Alex McLeish.

Taylor, who joined Blues from Blackburn in the January 2004 transfer window, played a major part in City regaining their Premier League status last May.

The 28-year-old has spent the last month on loan at Norwich but QPR are also interested in signing the player and are holding talks with the midlands club.

McLeish said: "I have spoken to Martin and he is down the pecking order. I have said if the right club comes in for him, it will be time for him to move on.

"He has done well for Norwich and helped them climb off the bottom of the Championship with his performances for them.

"I think there are one or two clubs interested in Martin who is weighing them up. I believe QPR are in the hunt."
