Newcastle United defender/midfielder Ryan Taylor has called the run of eight-straight defeats an embarrassment for the club.

The Magpies have won just two of their last 18 games under caretaker manager John Carver and their recent run of eight losses was ended by the 1-1 draw against West Bromwich Albion on Saturday.

Of the horrid stretch of form, Taylor said: "That run of consecutive defeats was embarrassing, and if you asked every single person in the dressing room, they feel the same.

"We keep conceding from set plays and that is very worrying. That's been the case over the last few weeks, where corners and free kicks are deciding games against us.

"When played Arsenal in March, as good as they are at passing the ball, they scored from two set pays and it was too easy for them."

Newcastle have dropped to 17th place in the league and are just two points clear of the relegation zone with two games left in the season.
