Sydney's Aloisi happy to find form on eve of finals

Sydney FC striker John Aloisi was delighted to hit some form a week out from the A-League finals by scoring a double yesterday.

The former Portsmouth, Coventry City and Osasuna hitman was the hero yesterday, netting twice in the second half to down Perth Glory 3-2 and admitted it felt good to 'stick it up' the critics who have talked him down following a poor 2008/09 season.

"That's football," Aloisi said of taking the good with the bad.

"I didn't have a good year last year probably for a few reasons but this year I worked really hard.

"I've still had my ups and downs with a few minor injuries and having to wait my time for when (Mark) 'Bridgey' and (Alex) 'Brosquey' were playing well.

"But the last few weeks I've been happy with the way I've been performing.

"We're a tight group, we want to win and I'm no different."

Aloisi also admitted that he was unsure of what his playing future held for him and said at this stage, he does not want to think further than this season and the upcoming finals campaign.

"I'll take it week by week and make sure I'm fully fit and raring to go on Sunday against Melbourne," he added.

"I'll worry about next year at the end of the (final) series."
