The A-League's newest expansion club Sydney Rovers could be over before it even starts if the current syndicate involved does not come up with enough funds by next week.
Football Federation Australia has given the western Sydney consortium an ultimatum that if it doesn't pay up soon, their liscence to become the 12th A-League club will be revoked.
The consortium, headed by former Socceroos Charlie Yankos and Peter Tredinnick and businessman Ian Rowden, are yet to come up with the $5million required for the liscence indicating that the club could fall over before it is even off the ground.
FFA decided to take on this consortium despite other offers and if it cannot come through with the cash, it may pave the way for another syndicate to become involved with the Rovers.
There have been rumours that Australian football stars Tim Cahill and Lucas Neill were both set to put money into the new club but that is merely speculation especially seeing as Neill supported a separate consortium.
