Sydney FC head coach Ian Crook says the club will not throw Alessandro Del Piero into the fire straight away.
The Juventus icon is set to make his A-League debut this weekend as the Sky Blues take on Wellington Phoenix in New Zealand in the opening round but Crook isn't too bothered about the amount of game the veteran will get.
"We would have loved to have another week, two weeks or three weeks (of Del Piero training), but that isn't the situation," Crook said.
"We've said all along it's a long-term project. He's not here on a short guest stint.
"But we feel he's got enough quality to be able to give us something different."
