Sydney FC chief excited to welcome Premier League giants Chelsea

Sydney FC made a significant announcement on Monday afternoon Australian time.

The A-League club have confirmed that they will host Premier League powerhouse Chelsea in a one-off friendly in June.

The Sky Blues will take on Jose Mourinho's Blues at the ANZ Stadium on June 2 and chairman Scott Barlow is eagerly anticipating the meeting.

"This is a historic announcement for Sydney FC and for football in Australia," Barlow said.

"Chelsea are one of the world's biggest football clubs with millions of fans around the globe and this will be a huge occasion for the game in our country.

"I am delighted that Sydney FC will again be representing Australian football on a global stage. The game is a must see for all Australian fans and I am expecting a sellout crowd at ANZ Stadium."

The Premier League champions-elect will come up against the Sky Blues just days after the Australian club take on Tottenham Hotspur.
