Sydney FC and Sydney Rovers to work together

Established A-League club Sydney FC have confirmed they will work together with incoming club Sydney Rovers to make football in New South Wales better.

After recent comments made by Rovers chairman Ian Rowden stating that the new club would take the 'rest' of Sydney (north, south and west) whilst the Sky Blues would remain with the east, their 'big brother' has taken the onus on themselves to ensure that there will be a working relationship of sorts to improve the game in the area.

Sydney FC football operations manager Stefan Kamasz made it clear at the Football NSW Premier League launch last month that his club has welcomed the Rovers onto their 'turf' and said the impending rivalry can only be good for the game.

"I had a meeting with Ian Rowden (Rovers chairman) the other day and we both agreed that it was important that we work together to make sure that we do what is right for football in Sydney. It will be fantastic," he said.

"The rivalry will be great, it will popularise the game even more here (western Sydney)."
