Swindon Town have given defender Jerel Ifil permission to hold talks with Aberdeen over a move to Pittodrie. Ifil played for Aberdeen in Dean Windass' testimonial game against Hull City on Sunday.
Robins boss Danny Wilson said: "Aberdeen have made a formal approach for him and it's up to Jerel to see what can be agreed. It's with Aberdeen and the player now and we will see what develops.
"It really depends on how much Aberdeen want him and we have given them the go-ahead to speak to him.
"There are lots of things to take into consideration. We have cover at centre-back and if the deal could go through then we would have more money in the pot to look for a striker, but either way we will continue looking for strikers.
"Aberdeen have a major game at the weekend against Celtic, but first and foremost the deal has to be sorted between the club and the player."
