Swindon boss Wilson: Liverpool have potential worldbeater in Stephens

Swindon boss Danny Wilson says Liverpool have signed a potential worldbeater in teenage goalkeeper Jamie Stephens.

Wilson says Liverpool managed to beat a host of competitors for the youngster's signature.

"I'm sure he will do very well and we wish him all the best," he told skysports.com.

"There were half-a-dozen clubs looking at him, but he made his mind up to join them and I felt it was the right choice for him as well.

"He has got massive potential for such a young boy and he will be competing at a higher age level than he currently is, but that is down to Liverpool now how far he progresses.

"I'm absolutely delighted for the boy because he is going to a top-quality football club that know how to look after their youth players.

"It is a marvellous opportunity for Jamie and he is a very level-headed boy.

"He knows exactly where his career is going and with that he has chosen to go to Liverpool. He has got great potential and that is what Liverpool have seen in him."
