Sweden coach Janne Andersson denies Manchester United defender Victor Lindelof's decision to quit the squad had nothing to do with a snub for Alaves striker John Guidetti.

Reports in Sweden suggested he snubbed his national side as a result of best friend Guidetti being left out by Andersson.

"There has been little speculation as to why he made his decision," Andersson said.

"Already yesterday I said that I have great respect and great understanding of the decision.

"I can strongly deny that it was because another player was taken out.

"Had it been so, I would not have had respect or understanding of the decision."
