Swansea will be wise with Bony cash - Monk

Swansea City manager Garry Monk insists the club will be very prudent with the money they received for the sale of Wilfried Bony.

The Welsh outfit have landed £28million from Manchester City for the Ivory Coast striker but Monk has made it clear that they are not about to lash out and throw cash around willy-nilly in order to replace Bony's scoring exploits.

Monk admitted there were plenty of areas to spread the windfall which he will duly discuss with chairman Huw Jenkins when the matter needs to be addressed.

"I've not considered it or discussed it at this point with the chairman," said Monk.

"I'm sure everyone thinks now that you have £28million coming into the club at whatever point is all to spend on players.

"Of course it's not. We always spend it wisely at this club - we always have done.

"There's infrastructure to improve and plenty of things off the field we need to improve such as stadium expansion and the training ground.

"It all costs a lot of money but it's something we will put in place to make sure the future of this club is solid.

"In terms of a budget for myself we need to sign players and add quality to the squad, but it won't be the money people are trying to tell us at this moment."
