Swansea's Sigurdsson: Gomis handling pressure of Bony vacancy

Swansea City midfielder Gylfi Sigurdsson has hailed Bafetimbi Gomis for seamlessly filling the void left by the departure of Wilfried Bony from the Liberty Stadium.

The Swans had been dealt with a huge blow during the January transfer window after losing the services of star man Bony to Manchester City but Frenchman Gomis has picked up the pieces.

Bony's loss has not proven to be too detrimental to Swansea's season due to the fact that Gomis has stepped up to the plate by scoring some important goals as he did when producing the winner in the Swans' 1-0 victory over Aston Villa on the weekend.

Following Gomis' heroics, teammate Sigurdsson hailed the striker and stated that the 29-year old has done a fine job in replacing Bony.

Sigurdsson said: "Everyone's happy for him, he's having to back up what Bony did for the club, that's not easy there's a lot of pressure on him."
