Swansea City are believed to be the frontrunners to snare Christian Fuchs from Schalke.

The South Wales Evening Post reports that Swans boss Garry Monk is closing in on the 29-year old Austrian left-back who is out of contract in the summer.

Monk has been determined to sign a new left-sided full-back following Ben Davies' move to Tottenham last summer and it appears as though Fuchs could be his man.

Formerly of VfL Bochum and Mainz, Fuchs has been with Schalke since 2011 but appears to be on his way out at the Veltins-Arena after failing to sign an extension with the Royal Blues.
