Swansea City defender Ashley Williams sought to play down his clash with Manchester United striker Robin van Persie during yesterday's 1-1 draw.

Williams insisted he had not acted maliciously.

The Wales captain told Sky Sports: "I tried to clear the ball it hit him on the head. I was trying to clear the ball.

"He was obviously a bit angry about that. It was a much ado about nothing."
