Swansea City boss Michael Laudrup feels Michu should be regarded as one of the great signings in Premier League history.
Swans are upset Michu missed out on the PFA Player of the Year nominations.
Ahead of today's trip to Chelsea, Laudrup said: "It's true every manager wants their player nominated but basically, it's all about players from the top clubs.
"That's often what you see with these individual awards. I don't know what's right or wrong.
"But I think we can all agree Michu's been quite outstanding this season - much more so than anybody ever expected. And he's won a trophy, too.
"But he's still happy because he knows everyone here recognises how important he's been. And even in the rest of football, everybody recognises that Michu has been the best buy this season - and maybe the best for many, many years. There's so much quality about him.
"He's exceeded my expectations, of course. He scored 15 for a small club in Spain last season and saved them. Now he's scored more than 20 for us.
"That's outstanding - and it will be even if he doesn't score again this season."
